Development & Historic Preservation Committee
February 8, 2019 8:00 AM
Interested in the updates for our district’s current development projects including the Peabody Square ReVitalization Project and the #DotGreenway? Share your voice as part of our Development & Historic Preservation committee this Friday morning.
Also on the agenda:
8:00: Andre Porter will present his clients’ proposal for a mixed use TOD development at 1854 Dot Ave (currently windowless masonry BetCo Telephone building) for 9 units of housing and a small retail storefront. The owner and architect will also be with us.
8:30: BTD will visit to review parking and traffic issues we have raised, with a focus on the area around Ashmont Station and on the impact of ride-sharing.
Our Development & Historic Preservation Committee works to promote positive development in the district by leading the community input process on major development projects such as the Ashmont Station renovations and the Trinity Financial Transit-Oriented Development project at the station; working with the City on a design study for infrastructure improvements; working with the Boston Planning & Development Agency on the Dorchester Avenue Project; and originating and co-sponsoring community charrettes as needed. Currently also shepherding the Peabody Square ReInvestment Project in the East & West Plazas, and the visioning for the #DotGreenwayon the MBTA tunnel cap.
We are seeking architects, historic preservation professionals and enthusiasts, planners, and designers to:
– Meet with property and business owners to discuss design projects
– Implement a cohesive design strategy for the district
– Become actively involved in the storefront improvement grant process, Restore Boston
– Assist the Executive Director in facilitating community meetings as new development proposals arise
