Gardening Weekend at Lawson Park
May 31, 2019 12:00 PM
Come out to the Lawson Park (Egleston Square Park) located on the corner of Washington Street and Columbus Avenue (1 Atherton Street) from May 31st, 2019 to June 2nd, 2019, and plant away! Come out anytime you can during the gardening weekend event, and garden at your own pace. This is not a structured event. You may find other residents gardening at the time you are there, or you may not. If you prefer, you can gather a small group of people and head there to work together. Meet and say hi to other residents who maybe gardening at the same time you are.
This is an effort to help beautify the neighborhood park for its upcoming naming ceremony on June 22nd, 2019. This area is officially under the Boston Park’s department jurisdiction. The Park’s friends group and other local groups advocated for years for this Park to be named after Robert Lawson (peace be upon him), and it was a win! The park is now officially named the Lawson Park. Also, this is officially a smoke-free and alcohol-free area. All the residents of our community are welcome to join. Please bring your own gardening tools. The park does not have a watering system so feel free to bring some water and help us hydrate all the plants.
You’re welcome to bring as many seeds, flowers, and plants as you can. Plant them anywhere you find space. Flowers would look amazing in the barrels. Please do not remove grass (it was hard to bring back), plants, or flowers someone else may have planted. Also keep off tree roots.
If you have books you want to donate feel free to bring them and leave them in the tiny library.
Hosted by Lawson Park Friend’s Group.
