HUNGRY TO HELP?
Through March, purchase a gift card from a participating restaurant or business. These businesses are pledging to donate 10% of gift card sales to our Hungry to Help Campaign.
West Roxbury Main Streets, working with the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) and in partnership with restaurant food supplier PFG, will use 100% of proceeds from Hungry to Help to buy pallets of food requested by the Food Bank to fulfill its most urgent needs.
GBFB works to supply neighborhood food banks in and around our neighborhood, like Rose’s Bounty and the Hyde Park and Roslindale food banks, while also addressing food insecurity across Greater Boston in some of the communities hit hardest by ongoing needs that have been exacerbated during the pandemic.
YOUR GIFT CARD PURCHASES FROM THESE LOCAL BUSINESSES WILL HELP ADDRESS FOOD SECURITY IN BOSTON:
HOW DO BUSINESSES BENEFIT?
Our restaurants and businesses have seen revenue decrease by more than 50% during the pandemic. With 90% per gift card going to the participating business, those who are Hungry to Help can do their part to keep our businesses open, bills paid and staff employees.
HOW DOES OUR COMMUNITY BENEFIT?
We collectively do our part to support our neighbors in need and reduce food insecurity in West Roxbury and across some of Greater Boston’s neediest communities.
The intent behind this program is to help sustain our local businesses and keep alive a vibrant business district as we gradually emerge from quarantine and return to normal later in 2021.
West Roxbury Main Streets would like to acknowledge and thank Johnny Fortin, the owner of Rox Diner, for conceiving of this idea to tackle food insecurity across our community during the COVID-19 emergency, while also doing something to support and sustain the restaurants and small businesses in West Roxbury.
