Thanks to efforts by Rep. Nika Elugardo, we are working with 100 Boston youth that have been selected by BHA for this grant. The goal is to find seasonal jobs for each of them immediately through a team of Main Streets directors. The intent is to provide mentoring in a real-life work environment. The positions can be used to support your current staff or temporarily replace those on vacation or leave.
The youth are aged 16-24, will be paid a minimum of $15 per hour, and can work up to 20 hours per week. They can begin working as early as mid to late November, until the end of December. Businesses, organizations, and non-profits are eligible to hire.
The grant monies for this must be used by December 31, 2020. The grant covers their salary, taxes, PPE needs, meals, and transportation. They must be hired on your payroll and JP Centre/South Main Streets will reimburse you all expenses for their position for December.
Please let us know immediately
if you are interested in participating in this program. We are running quickly with this request and hope to extend this to January/February 2021. Right now, we can guarantee the grant for November/December.
